Jaire Alexander is set to make Ravens debut on Sunday night

Details
05 September 2025

Cornerback Jaire Alexander is set to make his Ravens debut against the Bills on Sunday night.

Alexander was a full participant in practice for the second straight day on Friday and the Ravens did not give him an injury designation for their road opener. Alexander has been dealing with a knee injury, but the offseason acquisition is on track to play.

Guard Daniel Faalele (illness) is in the same category. He was limited in Wednesday's practice, but joined Alexander as a full participant to close out the week.

Tight end Isaiah Likely has been ruled out with a foot injury and fullback Patrick Ricard (calf) is going to miss the game as well.

Chargers elevate LS Rick Lovato, OT Foster Sarell

Details
05 September 2025

The Chargers elevated long snapper Rick Lovato and offensive tackle Foster Sarell from the practice squad ahead of Friday night's game against the Chiefs.

Lovato has appeared in 156 career games, including 17 postseason games, with the Packers and Eagles. He played in Philadelphia from 2017-24, earning Pro Bowl recognition in 2019 and winning two Super Bowl rings.

Lovato snapped for an operation that saw kicker Jake Elliott make 84.8 percent of his field goals (196-of-231) and score a total of 906 points. He helped Elliott be named to the Pro Bowl in 2021.

Sarell has made three starts in 35 regular-season games played for the Chargers from the past three seasons.

He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Ravens in 2021 before joining the Bolts later that year.

Za'Darius Smith lands with Eagles, not Lions

Details
05 September 2025

The richer get rich.

The Eagles have agreed to terms with linebacker Za'Darius Smith, according to NFL Media. It's a one-year deal.

The Browns traded Smith to the Lions during the 2024 season. In the offseason, the Lions terminated the balance of Smith's contract. There had been periodic suggestions that a reunion was in the offing.

That's now off. Smith is an Eagle.

Because the Eagles have played their first game of the season, adding Smith now means he won't be entitled to the balance of his salary as termination pay, if the Eagles later cut him. It's one of the benefits of starting the season a few days early.

If the Lions had signed him today, Smith's full salary would have been essentially guaranteed. In Philly, that's not the case.

Smith, who turns 33 in three days, joins his sixth team. He was a fourth-round pick of the Ravens in 2015. In 2019, he signed with the Packers. He spent 2022 in Minnesota before signing with the Browns in 2023.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Smith has 69 career sacks, and three double-digit sack seasons.
